National and international attention on the 23-year-old beauty has escalated to her being labeled as an ‘icon’ a ‘commander’ and the next ‘Che’ to go down in history. Yet ironically it is the Che’s and the Cami’s who ideologicaly detest the attention they recieve. Although ofcourse indulging on new found fame – the level of attention that follows her persona is comletely counterintuitive to Chile’s aim.

As a country who prides itself for its formality and intellectualism, populism is always frowned upon – but Vallejo managed to mobilize a people who had everything she articulates lingering in the back of their heads. Without her enthusiasm, hard work, and leadership those complaints and demands would have eventually fizzled away.

Camila remains and important figure in the Chilean student movement and educational movement in the entire region, but like she stated ‘The world should talk about Chile, not me”.
